Speaking 5A
|
This is a speaking course and you will be able to do lots of speaking in English in a relaxed and enjoyable class. You will also be able to practise your listening by listening to real conversations.
You will talk about interesting topics such as fashion, cultural misunderstandings and love and marriage. This book is designed for Japanese students and for your level. It works, so please join this class and have fun. There will be 5 vocabulary quizzes* (10 words). N.b. try and use the words from the quiz in the rest of the lesson, and try and use any new words as much as possible. This will count towards your final grade.

Lesson 8 Shopping (shopping and the environment)
Lesson 9 School (the school system, bullying, stress)
Lesson 10 TV and Movies (is television bad for you? fame)
Lesson 11 Nature (respecting nature, environmental problems)
Lesson 12 A Disaster in Japan: What Will You Do? Group discussions.
Lesson 13 I Am A Student-My Life.
Lesson 14 Review lesson
Lesson 15 Final Speaking Test.
GRADING:
Active participation 40% (asking questions, talking in English about the topics, concentration, adding to class atmosphere). Homework 20%. Final Test 40%.

This course aims to provide you with as much speaking practice as possible. It will also include listening practices as well. The course textbook, IDENTITY is designed for Japanese speakers like you, and the syllabus is organized around cross-cultural concepts.
