Department of Culture and Informatics

Against the backdrop of the recent development of digital transformation (DX) in our society, Gunma Prefectural Women's University established the department of culture and informatics on April 1, 2023, based in the department of liberal arts.

Our department provides study programs integrating humanities, the social sciences and informatics in order to nurture the intelligence that plays a critical role in today's highly digitalized society. Specifically, students can learn not only the skills of literature review and field research, but also the knowledge and way of thinking relevant to informatics, and the data sciences.

The admission policy of our department is to limit the number of students to 30 per year. This means our students are encouraged to have frequent academic contact with the department members. In addition, the small number of students also enables interaction between teachers and students in the classroom. The interactive nature of the study means that students can expect to achieve a successful outcome from their studies.

What kind of applicant is the Department of Culture and Informatics looking for?

A person who wishes to learn different approaches to understanding contemporary society and culture.

A person who wishes to understand the role of information and media in society and use this knowledge effectively.

A person who wishes to gain multiple perspectives in order to solve problems, whether they are in the field of the humanities, or the sciences.
